“Fruit in my Happy Meal? Eeuw...”

I saw this series of posters in the D&AD hallways – kids making faces at the idea of fruit in their Happy Meals. Comedy isn’t afraid of the “negative.” Comedy embraces and accepts that non-gleeful aspects of life are part of life. Comedy doesn’t judge. Comedy is honest. It reflects the human condition as it is – flawed, angry, misguided, rarely contented.

Oh, it would have been so easy, so advertising-like, to have the kids be happy that apple slices have replaced their French fries. And we’d have looked away with indifference. I’m sorry I brought it up.

Don’t forget, kids – there’s still a carbo-loaded greasebomb of a burger staining the bottom of your box. Yum.
